Subway restaurants are rolling out branded cash cards to ease payment options and give customers new gift-giving options.
The Subway Cash Card lets consumers make purchases at participating restaurants without the need to carry cash or credit cards. The cards are available in denominations ranging between $5 and $100. Cards can be reloaded when the balance diminishes.
“We’re trying to make a more convenient experience for [customers] coming into Subway restaurants,” Subway spokesperson Kevin Kane said.
The QSR is touting the card for its easy payment option and also as a gift for holidays, birthdays and employee incentives. So far, some 3,000 Subway restaurants are selling the card in states including Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, New York, Texas, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
The company expects to offer the card in most of its 19,000 restaurants nationwide by yearend, Kane said.
Consumers can register their cards at MySubwayCard.com to protect their balance if cards are lost or stolen. Those who register can also sign up for exclusive promotional offers on Subway specials.
Subway is the latest restaurant chain to offer electronic gift cards in the marketplace. Other popular eateries with gift cards include Burger King, McDonald’s and Dunkin’ Donuts.
