On Oct. 16, two major revisions to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) went into effect. However, a study from PerformLine finds that most Web pages collecting contact information are not in compliance with the updated TCPA.
One of the revisions to the TCPA requires marketers to obtain “prior express written consent” for all autodialed and prerecorded calls and telemarketing text messages; the other gets rid of an exemption that allowed advertisers to dodge the need to get prior written consent by citing an established business relationship.
According to PerformLine, a provider of compliance monitoring services for marketers, nearly 85 percent of Web pages capturing contact information are not compliant with the revised TCPA.
