IDG Communications List Services, Framingham, MA, is the new list manager of The Industry Standard subscriber list. The base cost for the list is $185/M.

Direct marketing materials printer R.R. Donnelley and Sons Co., Chicago, has elected Michael W. Winkel, executive vice president of strategy. Winkel previously had been corporate vice president, global operations/finance for Monsanto Co., the St. Louis-based agribusiness company.

Office supplies direct marketer Staples Inc., Westborough, MA, has signed a lease for a multi-channel distribution center in Charlotte, N.C. The 123,200 square-foot site should be operational by fall 1999, and will serve Staples contract, catalog and e-commerce customers. It will initially employ 40 people.

Diplomat Direct Marketing Corp., Stony Point, NY, will sell $2 million of 10% redeemable non-convertible shares of the company’s preferred stock. Diplomat intends to use the proceeds to further the e-commerce strategy for its Lew Magram and Brownstone Studio lines.

The Direct Marketing Association will participate in Nordic DM Days, Scandinavia’s premiere symposium and exhibition for direct marketers. The symposium will take place at the Stockholm International Fair in Sweden on May 6 and 7.
