Verizon opened a new call center yesterday with an advanced fiber optic network in Hampton, VA. The center will provide customer service for consumer and business broadband service customers. Verizon expects to fully staff the center with 180 employees by the end of March. Verizon plans to open similar centers in Syracuse, NY; Providence, R.I. and Thousand Oaks, CA. It already has a fiber optic equipped call center in Dallas area.

IntelliRisk Management Corp., a customer service and collections agency based in Columbus, OH has opened its first overseas call center in Makati City, Philippines. The 100-station facility will handle international calls.
