Computer direct marketer Dell reported total shipments up 27% in the fiscal second quarter, compared to the same period in 2002.
Revenue in the second quarter ended August 1 for the Round Rock, TX-based company was $9.8 billion, up 16% from the $8.4 billion posted in the second quarter of last year. For the six-month period, revenue was $19.3 billion, up 17% from the $16.5 billion reported in the first half of last year.
Operating income was $840 million for the quarter, compared to $677 million in the second quarter of last year. For the first six months of the fiscal year, operating income was $1.6 billion, versus $1.2 billion last year.
