SATISFYING THE SENSES, SETTING UP SCREENS

STAYING IN TOUCH

The French are renowned for their appreciation of sensory gratification, and now Paris-based company Commac has created a 100% intuitive tactile interface for point-of-purchase displays. It is currently launching systems with tactile sensors that can control DVD videos, sound and light effects, computer data and even fragrance dispensers. The sensors operate through mediums such as floors, partitions, or objects without any surface area limitations. Visit Commac at www.commac.com or call the French Technology Press Office at (312) 327-5260.

SOMETHING IN THE AIR

Scent seems to be the latest P-O-P trend. Arguing that packaging tends to hide this sensory component while the buying decision is being made, ScentAir Technologies restores the role of the nose with scent systems that don’t use heat or sprays. Both the ScentWave and ScentPOP products use cartridges that last over a month. For more information, call (805) 964-2424 or email [email protected].

PUMP UP A REALLY BIG SHOW

The inflatable SuperScreen from FastLane Productions allows event producers to display video in minutes. It is easy to set up, can be moved in minutes, is completely weatherproof, and works both indoors and outdoors. Sponsorship banners or logos for branding can be attached to the screen. Packages are available with multiple screen options to support various movie formats. FastLane Productions can supply video projection, audio playback equipment and even the buttered popcorn! EMBOSSED FOOD

Gourmet Impression LLC has developed two new hand-held kitchen tools that turn a variety of fast foods (from pizzas and calzones to ice cream and desserts) into delicious, edible experiences and advertisements. The “Stamper” and “Roller” tools can be customized with a restaurant’s brand or advertise products and services in an attention-grabbing way. SIGN OF THE TIMES

For years, hanging and changing ceiling signage required the use of ladders and a complicated system of flimsy clips and string. The process was frustrating and time-intensive, often involving at least two people to coordinate and several minutes per sign, as well as unsafe. Even then, signs often would hang unevenly, become obsolete or not get hung at all. The new Reel E-Z Display system, however, takes sign hanging to a new high by letting employees change signs easily from the ground, reducing the safety risks and labor costs. The single unit clips easily (without tools) onto the struts of a drop or open ceiling. Once in place, signs are attached via “S” hooks to a self-leveling bar using a specially designed pole. Signs are changed by pulling down on the bar, sliding two small stoppers to the desired sign height (aided by convenient color-coded markings on the unit’s pulley system), hanging the sign and guiding the sign pole back up to the set height. Reel E-Z Display is designed to accommodate a variety of environments, including stores, malls, hotels, civic centers, offices and trade shows. IN THE CARDS

As event security has tightened, the demands on photo ID cards have become more complex. The JumboCard II from Iris Companies is a low-cost method for compiling personnel data using off-the-shelf photo ID software and digital-image capture. The color-printed special card stock quickly mates to a plastic card carrier/badge holder that can hook to a lanyard. Additional security options include custom or semi-custom holograms, time-sensitive spots, ultraviolet printing, sequential numbering and pre-printed stock.
