RYAN NAMED MCD’S U.S. MARKETING CHIEF

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The marketing shakeup that’s been expected at Oak Brook, IL-based McDonald’s Corp. since last fall (December 2000 PROMO) took place in February, when Tom Ryan was named head of U.S. marketing to replace senior vp Larry Zwain.

Ryan had been vp-menu management/new concepts for the U.S., overseeing McD’s ambitious New Tastes menu that lets franchisee groups set menu specials. Zwain becomes senior vp-relationship partner for the Asia/Pacific/Middle East/Africa Group.

The move reinforces McD’s commitment to food-centric promos this year. Ryan keeps menu duties as he adds overall marketing responsibility for the chain’s 13,000 U.S. restaurants.
