Rite Aid CMO to Depart

Mark Panzer, Rite Aid’s senior executive vice president and chief marketing officer, said yesterday he is leaving the company. He offered no reason for his departure.

Panzer handled merchandising, marketing and supply chain at the drugstore. He joined the company in 2001 as executive vice president of store operations and moved up the ranks. He became chief marketing officer in Oct. 2005.

Rob Easley, Rite Aid’s chief operating officer, will take over the marketing duties in the interim, the company said.

Prior to Rite Aid, Panzer, 50, worked as a corporate vice president of marketing and sales at Albertson’s grocery chain, where he developed marketing and merchandising programs for 2,600 stores in 37 states.

Rite Aid operates 5,100 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
