Qwest Communications International, Inc. has promoted Laura Sankey to the newly created position of EVP-marketing and communications.
Sankey joined Qwest in February as VP-marketing communications and advertising. In her new role, Sankey will oversee the company’s marketing communications, product marketing, advertising and corporate communications and will head brand management, market research, sponsorships, database management and Hispanic marketing. Her appointment is effective immediately.
The goal is to have a consistent brand message across marketing and communication functions in the company, said Qwest spokesperson Nick Sweers.
“Since arriving at Qwest earlier this year, Laura has had a tremendous impact on our ongoing efforts to promote the Qwest brand on both a national scale and in the hundreds of markets we serve,” said Richard C. Notebaert, Qwest chairman and CEO in a statement.
Prior to joining Qwest, Sankey served as VP-marketing for Coors Brewing Co., where she was responsible for the company’s portfolio brands, channel marketing, sponsorships and mega promotions, and marketing operations. Sankey also held a variety of other key leadership roles at Coors, worked in brand management at Procter & Gamble and served as a marketing consultant for Marketing Corporation of America.
