Quebecor Shutters Plant, Axes 155 Employees

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Quebecor World Inc. is shutting its catalog and magazine printing plant in Beauceville, Quebec, laying off 155 employees, according to wire service reports.

The company is transferring Beauceville’s workload to other plants in North America, but it would not say where. The goal is to improve productivity and customer service. About 2,000 employees will remain in seven Quebec printing plants.

Quebecor World has shut plants in North America and Europe and laid off several thousand workers over the past two years as it struggled with declining volume in many products and poor prices.
