For the first time in the John Caples International Awards’ 27-year history, two best in show awards were given, both to Proximity agencies.
Proximity London received a best in show honor for client Save the Children’s “Skip a Treat” campaign in the Consumer Non-Profit Multi-media category (where it also won first place); and Proximity BBDO France was honored for an in-house campaign called “wemissyou.com” in the Business Single Medium category.
From a field of 1,055 direct marketing entries from 34 countries, 15 entries received first place awards, 53 were judged second place winners, and 62 received third place honors. The awards were presented Thursday night in New York.
The Courageous Client Award was won by NBC Universal, and agency Shackleton Direct of Madrid, Spain, for their “Another Reality” campaign in the Business Multi-media campaign category. The Irving Wunderman Award for lifetime creative achievement was won by Steve Bassett, executive creative director of The Martin Agency , Richmond, VA, and the Andi Emerson Award for life-time outstanding service to the direct marketing and interactive professions was awarded to John Roska of Roska Direct, Philadelphia.
