PromoCard Services Offers marketers Customizable Music Download Web Site

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Jumping on the music download bandwagon, PromoCard Services, a leader in stored value card promotions, has launched a Web site that enables marketers to customize their own online digital music offerings with their own brand identities.

The site, www.BallyhooMusic.com, offers more than 2.7 million songs, and was launched about three months ago.

About 20-30 promotions are currently running through BallyhooMusic, reported Paul Sorota, CEO of PromoCard Services. He’s in talks with companies customizing it for a particular brand.

The site currently is accessible only to Windows PC users, but will be open to Macs by the end of July, Sorota said.

PromoCard Services notes that music downloads represent a high impact, low cost promotion suitable for any industry: consumer goods, financial institutions, entertainment/media companies, automotive manufacturers, educators, food and beverage vendors, among them.

Typically instructions and PINs (personal identification numbers) are distributed via a branded plastic card as in/on-pack, a gift with purchase, a student enrollment incentive, event giveaway, product launch, or direct mail. Music download cards can also be used in a virtual promotion, with instructions and PINs sent via e-mail.

Music download promotions can be purchased in any denomination. Once consumers receive their card, they simply log on to a branded landing page and choose to “Redeem Gift Card.” They are then free to download from Ballyhoo’s 2.7 million songs, 1.7 of which are presently iPod compatible.

PromoCard will soon launch a Latin music site, BallyhooMusic.com, and it’s planning to segment the catalog by genre, such as Christian music.

To get the tracks PromoCard partnered with digital content provider Passalong Networks, which reached licensing deals with the record labels.

Over the past 12 years, PromoCard Services, based in Miami, FL, has produced more than 7,000 promotions for its clients including Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, schools and non-profit organizations. The company launched specializing in stored value cards, and has since branched out to movie and photo print cards using proprietary technology platforms, as well as ringtones and now music downloads.
