Pittman Leaves AOL Time Warner, is Succeeded by Time Warner Execs

AOL Time Warner’s Bob Pittman resigned Thursday from his position as chief operating officer. Pittman also stepped down as a director of AOL Time Warner and will leave the company after a transition period. Pittman had been with AOL before its merger with Time Warner in January 2001.

Don Logan, who had been chairman and chief executive officer of Time Inc. was named chairman of the newly created Media & Communications Group, which includes American Online, Time Inc., Time Warner Cable and the AOL Time Warner Book Group and Interactive Video unit.

Jeff Bewkes, who had been chairman and CEO of HBO, became chairman of the newly created Entertainment & Networks Group, which is comprised of HOB, New Line Cinema, Warner Bros., Warner Music, The WB and Turner Networks.

“I am excited by the possibilities of pursuing cross-divisional growth among AOL, Time Inc. and Time Warner Cable,” Logan said in a statement. “They all have direct subscriber relationships with customers, and supplement those subscription revenues with advertising and other revenues.”

Ann Moore, formerly executive vice president of Time Inc. replaces Don Logan as chairman and CEO of Time Inc., and Chris Albrecht, who had served as president of HOB Original Programming, took Jeff Bewkes position as chairman and CEO of HBO.
