Papa John’s, Blockbuster Team for Dinner and Movies Online

Papa John’s International, Inc. and Blockbuster Online have joined forces to offer movie and pizza lovers a sweet deal— and movies.

Consumers who place an online order at Papajohns.com (including a pizza and sides or drinks) will receive a promotional code redeemable for a 30-day trial of Blockbuster Online. The trial gives users unlimited DVD rentals (up to three at a time) and free shipping, with no return dates or late fees. For each month subscribers continue membership, Blockbuster will send coupons for two free in-store movie rentals.

The promotion is designed to drive awareness around Papa John’s online ordering service, said Jim Ensign, VP-marketing communications, for Louisville, KY-based Papa John’s.

“Blockbuster Online videos and ordering pizza online are a natural fit,” Ensign said. “There is a strong affinity between the two activities.”

The campaign marks the first time Papa John’s has teamed up with Dallas-based Blockbuster. The promotion runs through the end of December. Online materials, e-mail blasts, box toppers ads support.
