Oringer Leaves Meredith, Heads to Newsweek

Newsweek, NY, has named Hal Oringer to the newly created position of vice president of strategic planning and business development. The appointment takes effect next month.

In this new post, Oringer will be responsible for initiating and developing strategic growth opportunities for the magazine including concept development and testing, business evaluation, strategic alliances and acquisitions. He will report to Newsweek president and COO Harold Shain.

Previously, Oringer worked as vice president of sales and marketing for Meredith Interactive Media at Meredith Corp. in New York. Prior to that he was vice president of consumer marketing and development, responsible for all consumer marketing of magazines and books, product research and development and database marketing at Meredith.
