December catalog and retail sales fell for J. Crew from last year, but the Internet channel maintained its revenue level, and actually increased it for the 48 weeks ending Jan. 5.
For the five weeks ending Jan. 5, the New York-based apparel retailer had Internet sales of $21 million, down only slightly from the $21.7 million a year ago. Catalog sales fell from $38.9 million to $21.7 million, and retail revenue was off, dropping from $71.1 million to $68.7 million.
For the 48 weeks leading up to Jan. 5, Internet sales rose from $99.1 million to $115.5 million. Catalog sales fell from $166.8 million to $129.4 million, and retail revenue was off slightly, dropping from $380.2 million to $379.9 million.
