A Minneapolis-based online computer reseller said yesterday that it plans to produce direct response infomercials for television using its e-commerce technology.
Virtual Technology Corp., a public company founded in 1996, said it will market products through a national media purchase of cable TV spots. The 30 minute infomercials–10 to 15 a week–will target specific products for specific regional markets. The infomercials will be linked to the Virtual World on-line computer store (http://www.virtual-world.com) and the Virtual Technology auction site (http://www.vtcoauctions.com), which will allow the consumer to “click” and purchase items seen on TV. They can also purchase via a toll-free number.
Virtual Technology will also stream a video simulcast of the infomercial on the Internet.
