Nordstrom Inc., Seattle, has signed a letter of intent to acquire French company Faconnable S.A., a designer of high quality men’s and women’s apparel and accessories.
Nordstrom currently owns exclusive rights to distribute Faconnable products within the United States, and has been selling its merchandise since 1989. Nordstrom said in a statement that Faconnable is one of its top-selling brands and is also sold by retailers in 23 other nations, primarily in Europe, but including areas of Central and South America, the Middle East and the Far East.
Should the acquisition be completed, current Faconnable S.A. management and staff, including French designer Albert Goldberg, who created the line, and his business partner, Jean-Pierre Benaym, are expected to remain with the firm.
