Nike Pushes New Shoe with Kobe Bryant

Nike is making its new Nike Zoom Kobe IV available online with more than 5 billion design variations, and the Los Angeles Lakers’ star gave away 100 pairs of his new signature basketball footwear in a Christmas promotion.

Bryant distributed 100 pairs of NikeiD-designed Zoom Kobe IV shoes to fans at the Lakers’ Staples Center prior to the game against the Boston Celtics on Christmas Day. After School All-Stars in Los Angeles, which provides after school programming for kids, will also receive pairs of his fourth signature Nike shoe from Bryant.

The NikeiD Zoom Kobe IV shoes that Bryant wore during that game against the Celtics were to be signed and auctioned off on eBay with all of the proceeds going to the Kobe Bryant Family Foundation. The winning bidder will also receive two tickets to a future Lakers game and a chance to get a pair of shoes from Bryant himself.

Bryant collaborated with NikeiD designers to create two color schemes—one with red accents and canyon gold premium leather that he’ll wear on court, and another surprise design.

“I wanted to create an amazing performance shoe and give it unlimited color and style potential for players worldwide,” Bryant said in a statement.

Before the Zoom Kobe IV is available at retail outlets, 24 pairs will be sold daily online through Feb. 1. An unlimited number of pairs of the new shoe will be available on the Web site after Feb. 1.
