UNILEVER MEXICO:
has agreed to sell its edible oils and white fats business to a Mexican subsidiary of Associated British Foods Plc, for $110 million in cash. The transaction is expected to be completed within two months.
MARTHA STEWART: has resigned from the board of Revlon, Inc. She had held a seat on the board for nearly eight years.
HARD ROCK CAFÉ: announced that Hamish Dodds has been named president and CEO effective March 8. Dodds most recently held similar positions with Cabcorp and PepsiCo Beverages International.
BURGER KING: will launch a national Yu-Gi-Oh!: The Movie premium promotion with TV, P-O-P and Internet support. Warner Bros. Pictures will release the movie nationwide Aug. 13.
NICKELODEON: brings its multi-year, national Let’s Just Play campaign to Houston on March 20 with a park-wide game day and festival for kids and parents. The event is presented by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Centers for Disease Control and Prevention VERB campaign.
IGNITION: Atlanta, gets name recognition in Europe as sister agency McWhorter Driscoll changes its name to Ignition. The change leverages the reputation of Ignition’s experiential marketing work in the U.S., including the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Torch Runs for Coca-Cola.
EVERLAST: formed two licensing agreements with Slace, S.A. de C.V. of Anahuac, Mexico for the launch of Everlast-branded athletic and casual footwear and men’s and women’s underwear. The new products will be launched mid-2004.
MILLER BREWING CO: has designed a “Fridge Pack” for its Miller Lite and Miller Genuine Draft beers to fit into home refrigerators. The packs will be available to consumers by the end of April.
ESPN: has promoted Heather Campbell to VP-brand management and synergy. She will be responsible for the direction and relationship management of the ESPN Zones business, as well as the ESPN Club and project management of all of ESPN’s initiatives within the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. Campbell will also continue to direct and oversee all Synergy efforts at ESPN.
