THE CLEVELAND INDIANS: randomly distributed 15,000 “Slider” SportHeads candy dispensers to kids attending several of the Tribe’s final home games of the season and to kids who participated in the post-game “run the bases” promotion. Additionally, Slider SportHeads were distributed to fans on Fan Appreciation Weekend, Sept. 24-26, 2004. East Aurora, NY-based Cenergy Sports & Entertainment markets SportHeads.
THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE, PLAYERS INC. AND YMI: a curriculum-based education company have launched Stay Cool in School sponsored by trading card companies Fleer, Donruss/Playoff, Topps and Upper Deck. The program is a nationwide effort to provide educational tools to 30,000 schools utilizing NFL player trading cards to support teaching topics in mathematics, geography and language arts.
UNITED AIRLINES: Chicago, is selling snacks for its low-cost airline Ted. TedSelect SnackBoxes sell for $5; four varieties each have six to eight name-brand snacks, such as Mott’s applesauce, Goldfish crackers, Nestle Toll House candy bars. The snack sell on flights from 150 to 210 minutes long; Ted sells full meals on flights over three-and-a-half hours.
ARTHUR BLANK & CO.: Boston, has expanded its card-production capacity by adding a fourth press. Blank can now custom-print up to 1.3 billion plastic cards per year for loyalty programs, gift cards and phone cards.
BOMBAY SAPPHIRE: London, has tapped Draft, London, to create an off- and online customer relationship management program for the premium gin brand. Bombay Sapphire will sponsor a glass designing competition and host events across the U.K. to recruit consumers to act as brand ambassadors. Events begin in October. Draft also will design a Web site, handle e-mail and negotiate third-party partnerships.
RAPP COLLINS WORLDWIDE: New York City, promoted Anne Marie Schiller to managing director, a new post at its Los Angeles office. She had been senior VP-relationship manager. Rapp Collins plans to add more staff and move to bigger quarters in Torrance, CA.
