HASBRO, INC.: has named Brian Goldner as its new COO effective Tuesday. In his new role, Goldner, 42, oversees all of Hasbro’s North American toy and game operations. In addition, Goldner is in charge for worldwide product development and the global supply chain. He replaces Alfred J. Verrecchia, who left the job in May 2003 to become Hasbro’s president and CEO. Goldner most recently served as the company president, U.S. Toy Segment. He joined Hasbro in 2000 from Bandai American where he served as COO. In other news, Hasbro said it would combine its U.S. toys and Games segments into a single organization in North America.
SCHOLASTIC MEDIA: has appointed Gary Hymowitz as VP-consumer products. In his new role, Hymowitz oversees the strategic development, direction and implementation of all consumer products based on the company’s top properties, including Clifford The Big Red Dog, Clifford Puppy Days, The Magic School Bus, I SPY, His Dark materials and Maya & Miguel. In addition, Hymowitz is in charge of creating innovative and strategic licensing campaigns that target Scholastic[‘s retail and licensing constituents. He reports to Leslye Schaefer, VP-marketing and consumer products. Hymowitz recently worked as VP-licensing and marketing for SG Footwear, Inc.
CLEAR CHANNEL TV: and mobile weather content provider Weathernews have joined to provide local video programming for weather, news, traffic, and sports right to subscribers’ cell phones. Beginning in Q1 2006, Clear Channel will deliver its local TV content on demand via WNI’s “LiveLocal” mobile application, which is offered on major US wireless carriers for $4.99 per month.
