Dust off your hiking boots: It’s National Park Week. The National Park Foundation and its five corporate partners–American Airlines, Ford Motor Co., Kodak, Time and the Discovery Channel–wrap up the Dream Adventure Sweepstakes awarding five grand prize trips. Each of five winners will win a trip to Rocky Mountain, Yosemite, Great Smoky Mountains, Olympic or National Capital. The month-long sweeps garnered 140,000 entries, many of them new names for the non-profit foundation’s database.
Grand prizes include airfare on American, car rental from Hertz, Kodak digital photography kit, gift certificate to Discovery Channel stores, a year’s subscription to Time and four K2 bikes via Ford.
Second prize (25) is a “National Park Pack” with Fodor’s Complete Guide to America’s National Parks, America’s National Parks by Paul Schullery, the National Parks Edition Monopoly and a National Parks Pass. Players enter at www.nationalparks.org; one winner is announced each night this week on the Travel Channel during parks-related programming.
The corporate partners–dubbed “Proud Partners”–drive traffic to the parks Web site and Discovery’s Travel Channel. The Washington-based foundation handles the sweeps in-house; Ventura Associates, New York City, administers the sweeps.
