RetailMeNot recently unveiled a set of data in the form of an infographic using its own numbers and those from Harris Poll and Vanderbilt University. Among the bits of information highlighted are days with the highest volume of coupon use, the most popular time of day for coupon use and the top categories for coupon searches.

According to RetailMeNot, the average savings per order/coupon use is 24.88 percent, with the average order value totaling $108.15.

Cyber Monday is the day with the highest volume of coupon use – more than 1.5 million coupons were used on that day last year. Black Friday followed close behind.

On an average day, 577,089 coupons are used. Meanwhile, Christmas is the day of the year with the lowest volume of coupons used, followed by Easter.

The most coupons are used at 10 a.m., according to RetailMeNot. Meanwhile, the “dead hour” for coupons is 2 a.m.

The infographic also noted that the average time users spend searching for a coupon or deal is 1 minute and 29 seconds.

The U.S. is the top country for coupon use, according to RetailMeNot, with 90.92 percent. Canada was a distant second with 2.49 percent, followed by Australia with 0.93 percent, the U.K. with 0.92 percent and India with 0.39 percent.

Washington, D.C., is the area of the area of the country with the highest coupon use per capita.

RetailMeNot also highlighted the top categories for coupon searches. Airline was No. 1, followed by clothing, hotel, car rental, pizza, books, food, shoes, travel and flowers.

The infographic shares that 82 percent of online shoppers reported that they are more loyal to businesses that offer regular discounts than businesses that offer occasional discounts.

Meanwhile, 27 percent of online shoppers use online coupon sites, and 22 percent use daily-deal sites like Groupon.

Another interesting tidbit of information is that when an online shopping cart prompts consumers for a coupon code, 81 percent of shoppers with a coupon complete the purchase, while just 18 percent of those without a coupon will complete the purchase.

On the other hand, 55 percent of online shoppers who don’t have a coupon and aren’t prompted for a coupon code complete the purchase.
