Maximizing Potential of Twitter

Twitter is showing up in many headlines lately. Good, bad or indifferent the micro-blogging service is being talked about and thousands of people are continuing to sign up daily. However, what a lot of people still don’t know (especially the ones that are new to Twitter) is just how powerful it is as a search engine (sometimes even more so than Google).

In my line of work, I get tons of questions from affiliate marketers on a daily basis asking about the different marketing aspects of affiliate marketing. Everything from, “Where can I find information on email platforms?”, to “Where can I find articles on how to set up my jump page?” and everything in between. While most people would normally go to Google or an industry forum to find these answers, one thing I always suggest (which not a lot of people are doing just yet) is using Twitter to find answers to their questions.

You see, Twitter is not just about telling someone exactly what you are doing or where you are at, it’s also an amazing research tool. For instance, with applications like TweetDeck, you can set up searches for your interests or a certain topic in seconds. So lets say you are an email marketer and you need information on IP renewal. Using TweetDeck, you can type in “IP renewal” (or a related keyword) as a search term and be updated (in real time!) whenever someone includes that term in their tweet. You can then network with these people on Twitter, and also start talking to them about the industry or any questions you may have. How powerful is that?!?! So not only is Twitter a great tool for research and keeping up on new trends in Affiliate Marketing, but also an amazing tool for meeting like minded people in the industry.

That being said, it’s important to understand that the Affiliate Marketing industry is constantly changing and in order to keep up, we need to use every tool possible to help us learn and grow as the industry develops. I am constantly researching and keeping myself as up to date as possible on all the new technologies coming out, in order to always remain one step ahead of the game and I encourage all of you to do the same. With that said, I hope this article has not only enlightened you to research the true potential of Twitter as a researching tool, but also motivated you to continue to learn, grow, and always seek out new trends and tools, so we can continue to move forward in this fast paced industry.
