A New Hampshire man has been sentenced to one year in prison for bilking Internet buyers of computer equipment, according to wire service reports.
Daniel Maycroft, of Northwood, NH, pleaded guilty to a mail fraud count in April. Authorities said he pretended to sell laptops online, but never sent any to customers who paid.
The U.S. Postal Service investigated the crime, along with several New Hampshire police departments.
Authorities say Maycroft used several aliases in his crimes and fled to Miami, FL after police first found and interviewed him. Postal Inspectors arrested him there.
Maycroft also will serve three years of probation.
