Senior executives from across the $900 million-a-year mailing industry have endorsed the concept of a Presidential Postal Commission to spur reform in the nation’s postal system.
The call came from the newly formed Mailing Industry CEO Council, an outgrowth of the Mailing Industry Task Force.
The CEO Council was created to assist the task force in its efforts to implement its proposed reforms and to push for reforms that require the legislation.
The Council will seek to establish industry standards that foster industry growth and improve the mailing system.
“If we are going to have a viable and competitive mailing system in the 21st century, we cannot afford to wait any longer for the serious reforms that will be necessary,” said Pitney Bowes chairman/CEO Michael J. Critelli, president of the CEO Council, in a statement.
