MacDonald Dettwiler, a Canadian information provider, has purchased part of Acxiom Corp.’s DataQuick business unit, a property information compiler that provides products to the real estate industry. Terms of the sale were not disclosed.
While MacDonald Dettwiler will take possession of the San Diego-based unit’s products, Acxiom will retain the information gathering processes, and has signed a long-term licensing agreement to provide MacDonald Dettwiler with data used in creating the products. Acxiom will retain use of the information in modeling products for other industries, but it has agreed not to compete with MacDonald Dettwiler in the real estate arena.
