Britannica.co.uk will launch a revamped version of its e-commerce site in June, adding multi-lingual features for international customers.
Catherine Triscott, account director with the Bristol-based MM Group, which is designing the site, noted that a portion of Britannica’s online customers are people learning to speak and read English, who are using the CD-Roms and DVDs as learning tools.
Encyclopedia Britannica–which has officially re-branded itself as Britannica.co.uk– is still available in its hefty print edition, at the hefty price of 2000 pounds. The multimedia CD ROM, in comparison, costs only 69.99 pounds.
