Specialists Marketing Services Inc. has been retained to manage the Buyers Choice Direct Mail Responders and RX and Ailment master files, with 1.9 million and 1.3 million names from the last 12 months, respectively. The first file identifies individuals who through surveys expressed interest in receiving direct mail offers. The ailments file lists direct mail-surveyed individuals who self-reported specific ailments and use of medications. Mal Dunn Associates Inc. formerly managed these files.

Musical Heritage Society
Four Musical Heritage Society insert media programs have been transferred from Mokrynskidirect to affiliate A/M Direct to manage. The largest program, Musical Heritage Society Review Classical Ride-along, is slated to reach more than 1.9 million households next year. Other transfers include a statement stuffer, package insert and Jazz Heritage Society Ride-along programs. The maximum size for inserts is 5-1/2 by 8-1/2 inches, except for statement stuffers, which can be no larger than 3-1/2 by 7 inches. All inserts can weigh up to one-quarter ounce.

Skinder-Strauss Association has released an e-mail list derived from the annual directory Lawyers Diary and Manual. A total of 130,718 e-mail addresses are available. This file includes all licensed attorneys in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Florida. Most have purchase either a hardcopy of the directory for $60 or a CD-ROM version for $140. Women comprise 30% of the file.

A package insert program targeting customers of the Playboy Catalog has been introduced. Some 300,000 packages are shipped annually. Twenty-one percent of these customers are women, typically 35 to 44 years old, with a $50,000 median income. Ad inserts may be up to 6 by 9 inches, weighing up to one-quarter ounce.

Brokerage Clark Mckain Merges With Direct Media
The New York-based list brokerage Clark Mckain LLC has reached an agreement to merge with Direct Media Inc., effective Nov. 1.

Clark Mckain will retain its name and operate as an independent division of Direct Media. No staff changes are planned.

“I believe this alliance will help us be even better marketing partners with our clients,” Clark Mckain, partner and cofounder said in a statement. “We will be able to offer clients more services than were available to us as a small boutique list brokerage.”
