Strategic Marketing Solutions Files Bankruptcy

Strategic Marketing Solutions Inc., a list brokerage firm that specialized in conservative political and religious lists, filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy last week and a meeting for creditors has been scheduled for Aug. 22, according to court documents. Offices in Rockwall, TX apparently have been closed. Company president Beth Cathey could not be reached for comment; no one answers the telephone and the Web site strategiclistmarketing.com was not accessible. Strategic Marketing, which also conducted business under the name Strategic List Marketing Inc., filed for bankruptcy on July 11 at the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of Texas, Dallas division. Walter Karl Inc. and List Services Corp. are among the largest companies included on a list of 96 creditors that’s been submitted to the court. Other companies identified as creditors are Midwest Direct Marketing Inc., Atlantic List Co., Estee Marketing Group, Bush Co., Trinity Direct, TMA & Associates, BMW Lists, CrossLists Co., Diamond List Marketing, List Dynamics, List & Data Services Corp., Name Exchange, Omega List Co., Pinnacle List Co., Robertson Mailing List Co. and Superior List. In the court filing Strategic Marketing estimated it has outstanding debts up to $500,000, but no more than $50,000 in assets. No funds are expected to be available for unsecured creditors, according to court papers. Daniel J. Sherman, an attorney with the Dallas law firm Sherman & Waquinto LLP has been appointed as the bankruptcy trustee. The attorney for Strategic Marketing is Christian S. Nielsen, a sole practitioner in Dallas. Neither Sherman nor Nielsen could be reached for comment at deadline.
