Anchor Launches Company to Specialize in Retail Data

Anchor Computer Inc. has formed Anchor Retail Solutions, a new company that offers list and data services specifically for retailers engaged in direct marketing. Chief operating officer Peg Kuman will serve as head of the new firm.
Retail Shopper Identifier, one of its new data products can be used to match customer names and ZIP Codes with credit card or debit card data, in order to add postal addresses to files, which due to privacy regulations cannot be sourced directly from card transactions, said Kuman.
The matching process is designed to eliminate the more cumbersome process of collecting such data by asking for it at the retail point of sale. It’s available for customized applications and the process has successfully been tested for about nine months with about six retailers, she said.
Anchor Retail Solutions will also offer e-mail appending and related services, as well as telephone numbers derived from telephone companies, in addition to data for compliance with do-not-call list federal and state regulations.
Anchor maintains a database with more than 400 million opt-in e-mail addresses and more than 500,000 telephone numbers. The phone database can be used to identity cell phones, so retailers can ask for landline numbers instead or verify postal addresses, Kuman said.
V12 Gains Access to Mortgage Data For Lists

V12 Group has acquired Direct Marketing Associates (DMA), a mortgage data compiler, for undisclosed terms. Look for V12 to make more acquisitions in the near future to further expand its line of data products and services.
DMA will continue to operate from its Delray Beach, FL offices. DMA’s CEO Adam House is expected to remain with V12 to oversee DMA as a separate division.
“It enhances our bag of tricks and allows both companies to cross-sell products,” said Dori Bruno, chief operating officer at Redbank, NJ-based V12. “It allows us to specialize in a vertical market. This is a new vertical for us (mortgage data) and there are more coming,” she said.
V12 will be offering more enhanced mortgage data in its list products, including for example information about current homeowners’ mortgages and loan-to-value ratios. “It’s deeper level information for more precise targeting,” she said. For DMA it means adding e-mail addresses to its existing line of postal and telemarketing lists.
EatingWell Partner E-mail Program
AM/Direct has been tapped by Eating Well Media Group to manage a solo direct e-mail advertising program. An estimated 170,000 e-mails will be sent once per week. They’ll target individuals who opted in to receive offers when they subscribed to Eating Well magazine.
