Re: Federal Court Kills Do-Not-Call List (Direct Newsline, Sept. 25)

In 281 B.C., King Pyrrhus won a number of victories against Rome but they were so costly in terms of men and equipment that he finally had to withdraw from Italy remarking: “Another such victory and I shall be ruined.”

That the Direct Marketing Association is prominently identified as one of the “winners” in the lawsuit brought against the FTC’s Do-Not-Call list must be the ultimate Pyrrhic victory. One small battle won; 50 million telephone households antagonized (to be P.C.)!
