Large Sale Boosts PC Mall’s Fortunes

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

PC Mall Inc. reported net income of $1.7 million on sales of $295.3 million during fourth-quarter 2006, up from $1.4 million in net income and $261.6 million a year earlier. For all of 2006, the company generated just under $4 million in income, a turnaround from a net loss of $3.7 million, while reporting sales of $1.01 billion, up from $997.2 million.

The company owed part of its success to a single sale of $28.8 million to an unnamed customer in fourth-quarter 2006. It also reduced its sales, general and administrative expenses by $5 million, primarily due to “a reduction of labor from our Philippine initiative” and reallocating its advertising mix.

The Torrance, CA-based firm sells a variety of technology through catalogs, the internet, and relationship-based sales forces.
