KFC Pushes Dip Strips On Streets of Manhattan

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

If you happen to be about town in Manhattan today, you might see KFC’s 12-foot illuminated truck featuring a life-sized box of its Triple Dip Strips.

The vehicle will be making stops at fire stations, community centers and on busy streets within a five-mile radius of its restaurants where reps will hand out free samples.

The promotion marks the new product’s entrance in the New York market.

Reps will also roll around on Segways wrapped in Roman chariot shields handing out “I (heart) New York” signs with Triple Dip Strip details on the back. Stops include the “Today” Show and “Good Morning America.” At night, signs reading, “Go Knicks” will be handed out with messaging outside Madison Square Garden.

Passersby with Bluetooth-enabled cell phones will receive messages like, “Triple Dip Strips now available at KFC for $2.99.”

KFC will travel to other cities in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut through Nov. 18.

Triple Dip Strips, which launched Oct. 23, include three Colonel’s Crispy Strips and a choice of three of six sauces $2.99.

Allen Frank handles the campaign. GoMobile Advertising is responsible for the 3-D display on the vehicle.
