KFC PICKS ‘SEINFELD’ ALUM FOR $200MM EFFORT

Former “Seinfeld” star Jason Alexander stars this week in a new $200 million marketing campaign from Louisville, KY-based KFC.

The effort features the tagline, “There’s Fast Food. Then There’s KFC,” and tries to position the chain’s menu as a step above typical QSR fare. Heavy TV, radio, and print ads support. BBDO, New York City, handles.

The campaign’s first promotional overlay breaks this week through a full-page print ad with coupon in “USA Today” with copy that reads: “To rediscover the taste of KFC’s golden, juicy, Original Recipe chicken with 11 herbs and spices, clip this coupon. To remember the taste of an ordinary processed fast food hamburger, eat this coupon.”
