KFC is encouraging holiday revelers to send in photos and videos of their most eye-catching decorations.
People can fill out a registration form at http://www.KFC.com and then upload videos to http://www.YouTube.com or e-mail photos to the KFC PR team. The “Festive Fanatics Contest” runs through Dec. 14. Entries will be judged on creativity, use of lights and props and appropriateness to KFC’s image.
Visitors can vote on their favorite video or image from 12 finalists starting Dec. 20. The entry that earns the most votes will be the top winner.
One grand-prize winner receives free KFC food for a year and payment of their December electricity and credit card bills. Eleven semi-finalists get KFC food for a month.
KFC’s homepage, which is decked out with a holiday home scene, features an interactive countdown to Christmas. Each day, visitors who click on the highlighted windows on the site will find special treats in the form of downloadable coupons, wallpaper and ringtones.
PR, print ads and online marketing support the promotion. Weber Shandwick handles PR and Draft FCB supports advertising for the campaign.
The promotion dovetails with KFC’s new menu item, the Feast Fest, designed for busy families. It includes 10 pieces of chicken, two large home-style sides, six biscuits, a mega jug soft drink and a chocolate chip cake.
