KFC Awards Prizes for 500 Millionth Snacker Sold

KFC celebrated the 500 millionth sale of its KFC Snacker with a surprise promotion and grand prize.

Lori Kowalewski, 48, of Grand Rapids, MI, bought the winning snacker at a KFC in her home town. The company named her its Chief Snacking Officer for a day and will feature her in an upcoming commercial. She also receives a year’s supply of KFC Snackers and a nomination to become an official Kentucky Colonel.

“I just came in for some Snackers —one of my favorite lunch meals—and now I’m walking out a potential TV commercial star,” Kowalewski said in a statement.

The company kept the promotion a secret from its customers.

“We kept the 500 Millionth Snacker Giveaway a secret because we wanted to get a genuine reaction from a real customer,” KFC spokesman Rick Maynard said.

A Colonel Sanders look-alike presented the prize package to Kowalewski, a regular KFC customer.

KFC introduced the Snacker in March 2005. It later expanded the menu item to include other flavors, such as Buffalo, Ultimate Cheese and Fish Snackers.
