Jupiter Loss Widens from 2000

Jupiter Media Metrix, New York, had fourth-quarter revenue of $14.5 million, compared to $38.5 million for the fourth quarter in 2000. Revenue for the year was $89.2 million, compared $77.8 million in 2000. The quarter and the year ended Dec. 31.

Net loss for the fourth quarter was $20.7 million compared to a loss of $37.4 million for the fourth quarter in 2000. Net loss for the full year, was $519.2 million compared to a net loss of $63.3 million in 2000.

During the quarter the company pulled in $7.6 million from measurement functions, compared with $15 million in fourth quarter 2000. For the year measurement earned $43.6 million, down from $51.8 million in 2000.

Research services garnered $6.8 million in fourth quarter 2001, down from $15.3 million a year ago. But the $42.2 million research earned in 2001 was nearly two and a half times the $17.2 million seen in 2000.
