InterContinental Hotels Group Appoints New CMO

Intercontinental Hotels Group has appointed Peter Gowers to the newly created position of CMO. The appointment went into effect yesterday.

In his new role, Gowers, 33, will direct the marketing of InterContinental Hotel Group’s seven brands, including Crowne Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Holiday Inn Hotels and Resorts and Candlewood Suites, and oversee Priority Club Rewards, one of the largest hotel programs.

Previously, Gowers served as executive VP-global brand services for the company and was in charge for the recent branding for InterContinental Hotels and Resorts called “Do you lead an InterContinental Life?” Before that, Gowers held a number of senior roles within Six Continents PLC.

“Peter brings a combination of strategic thinking with a proven track record in brand management and will be an invaluable part of our senior management team,” said Andrew Cosslett, CEO, of IHG, in a statement.
