A Texas insurance company and three of its agents have been accused of using misleading telemarketing practices to sell supplemental Medicare insurance to senior citizens.
The Minnesota Commerce Department filed an administrative complaint against United American Insurance Co., McKinney, TX, and the operators of its now-closed West St. Paul and Duluth offices. The papers ask the state’s Office of Administrative Hearings in Minneapolis to schedule a hearing this fall.
In addition, the department said it forwarded a copy of its complaint to the county attorney in St. Louis County, where United American’s main Minnesota office was located, for review and the filing of possible criminal charges.
