InfoUSA has put plans for its yet-built Montebello, NY facility on hold, chairman and CEO Vinod Gupta told DIRECT.
But the company will close its current location in Montvale, NJ, once the lease is up on September 1. InfoUSA acquired the lease on the facility when it acquired Database America in late 1996. At the time, infoUSA was named American Business Information.
Gupta and New York state governor George Pataki broke ground on the Montebello site last year. Plans are for some Database America employees at the Montvale, NJ site to be moved into a smaller facility in the same city. Others will be transferred to the Greenwich, CT headquarters of infoUSA’s Walter Karl subsidiary.
The company will hold off on construction plans for the three-story, 200,000 square-foot Montebello facility “for about a year,” Gupta said. The lease on the Walter Karl site will be up in five years.
While Gupta did not comment directly on potential staff attrition due to the moves, he did say that consideration for location in the new Montvale facility would be based, in part, on easing existing employee commutes. Gupta also commented that the company is in a hiring mode.
