Litmus, an email testing and email marketing firm, has created this helpful infographic offering some insights into how to encourage email subscribers to forward campaign messages to others. While tracking forwarding and sharing behavior is pretty straightforward, Litmus takes a closer look at what it takes to encourage sharing. Here are some of the tidbits from the infographic:
- 73 percent of participants in a New York Times Customer Insight Group survey said they share information because it helps them connect with others who share their interests
- Key motivators behind sharing content with others include: bringing valuable content nourishing existing relationships and information others
- There are six types of people who are most likely to share email content: altruists, careerists, hipsters, boomerangs, connectors and selectives
“The winning formula for getting your subscribers to share the message with others is to appeal to their desire to share valuable and interesting information. If the content is informative and appeals to the personality of your subscriber, they will forward your campaign.”
