The American Cancer Society and the California Strawberry Commission will participate in a weeklong health-club campaign in May called Get Active, America!
The Strawberry Commission will sponsor the May 17-23 effort, coordinated by the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association (IHRSA). The Cancer Society is the official charitable partner.
IHRSA member health clubs will hold cancer awareness and prevention-related events during that week, and help raise $1 million that will be donated to the Cancer Society. About 1,500 health clubs will host “bring a guest” programs for members, and three-day open-house events for the local community to try out the facilities.
The Strawberry Commission will distribute samples, nutrition brochures and recipes in clubs.
