Greifer Leaves Digitas for CEO Post

Steve Greifer has left Digitas to take the helm of HoneyShed LLC, a Web based enterprise, owned by Publicis Groupe, Promo has learned.

Greifer has been senior vice president/global lead of Digitas’ promotions practice. There, he played a key role in making promotions, partnerships, and media activation core tools in Digitas’ offering.

Digitas took Promo’s top ranking as Agency of the Year in June.

Greifer left Digitas to join HoneyShed, a joint venture between the Publicis Groupe, Independent agency Droga5 and commercial production company Smuggler, as CEO. In his new role, Greifer is leading a team in evolving the site experience, producing and distributing content, driving audience demand and attracting advertisers and other partners.

HoneyShed is preparing for its major consumer launch with a complete site revamp and a multi-million dollar integrated campaign, with an expected launch date in November, Greifer said.

“When I decided to join Digitas almost eight years ago, I did so because I believed that it represented the future of marketing,” Greifer said in a statement. “I feel that same excitement in joining HoneyShed; we are at the cusp of the transformation of entertainment and commerce as we know it, and HoneyShed’s position at that intersection seems to be the right place for success for our client partners, and for our enterprise.”

Prior to joining Digitas, Greifer was senior vice president and general manager of contemporary marketing, the sponsorship and promotional activation arm of SFX (now Live Nation). Before that, he was a sponsorship innovator for PS Promotions, Chicago.

Greifer reported to Seth Solomons, Digitas' global CMO. The promotions team will continue to report to Solomons, the agency said.
