Baked-goods retailer Great American Cookies has kicked off a summer search for the “Great American Dad” and is holding out a male dream den as the reward.
From now through July 31, contestants can register and submit an essay of 200 words or less on why their father is a “Great American Dad.”
The subject of the winning entry, chosen by a panel of judges selected by Great American Cookies owner NexCen Franchise Management, will find himself the proud owner of the “ultimate dad den,” a media setup including a Sony Bravia 52-inch LCD HDTV, a Sony Blu-ray disc player and a Bravia home theater system. One first-prize winner will get an HDTV, while five runners-up will earn 450 gift certificates to Great American Cookies.
The contest judging will occur in August and the prizes will be award in September—just as Dad’s thinking about football.
The contest, which launched May 13, is part of a larger three-month NexCen campaign, “Celebrating Everyday heroes”, which extends through June. The initiative has focused on offering the chain’s signature Cookie Cakes to individuals with designated recognition days in that three-month span. In addition to Mother’s Day, the campaign has honored Administrative Professionals Day (April 22), Teacher Appreciation Week (May 3-9), and Nurse Appreciation Week (May 6-12.)
“Customers tell our franchisees every day how much they appreciate the heroes in their lives when they order Cookie Cakes and gift tins,” NexCen brand marketing senior vice president Jenn Johnston said in a release. “During this contest we expect to hear some wonderful, funny, touching and even quirky stories about some of the most unsung heroes, dads.”
