Recent figures released by comScore Video Metrix show that Google Sites pumped up its online video market share to 31.3% in November, an increase of more than two percent from October. Almost 3 billion videos were viewed on Google Sites in November, which includes YouTube.com. YouTube delivered 2.9 billion of these video views.
Fox Interactive Media was second place, with a 4.4% market share, with users viewing 419 million videos on its Web properties, which includes MySpace. Yahoo! Sites were third on the list with a 3.5% market share, while Viacom Digital was fourth with a 2.6% market share.
Approximately 9.5 billion videos were viewed online in November, and 138 million Americans viewed online videos. This is equivalent to more than three out of every four U.S. Web users (75.9%).
Google Sites garnered 76 million unique views (41.8%) in November, while Fox Interactive Media drew 46.3 million unique views (25.4%). Yahoo! Sites had 37.3 million unique views (20.5%) for the month.
The study also found that 74.5 million YouTube viewers watched about 39 videos each in November. Online video viewers spent an average of 3.25 hours watching content, a 29% increase from the 2.52 hours that viewers spent watching online video content in January 2007.
