Golf Warehouse Spurs Sportsman’s Guide’s Fortunes

The Sportsman’s Guide recorded a better-than-forecast second quarter, largely due to sales within its Golf Warehouse operations. The outdoor merchandise marketer had anticipated sales of $56 million for the quarter, up from $39.6 million a year ago.

When it releases final results in mid-August, the actual number should be closer to $63 or $64 million, according to the company. “Our anticipated record second-quarter results are due to the strong performance and significant contribution from our golf business at [The Golf Warehouse] and increasing Internet-related sales at [The Sportsman’s Guide],” said Gregory R. Binkley, the South St. Paul, MN-based firm’s president and CEO, in a statement.
