Gap to Expand Personal Care Line with Help from Inter Parfums

Gap, Inc. and Inter Parfums, Inc. have signed a deal to create personal care products under the Gap and Banana Republic labels, laying the ground work for long-term growth in the category.

As part of the deal, Inter Parfums will develop, package and manufacture the products while Gap will do the marketing and sell the product in its Gap and Banana Republic North American stores.

The products will include fragrances and related personal care products expected to debut in Banana Republic stores in the fall of 2006 and at Gap stores in 2007.

In addition to its line of clothing and accessories, Gap sells personal care products for men, women, children and babies under the Gap, Banana Republic and Old Navy brands. The retailer had 2004 sales of $16.3 billion and operates about 3,000 stores in the U.S., U.K., Canada, France and Japan.
