According to Nielsen Online, France, Italy, and Australia experienced strong growth in the number of Internet users within their respective borders, while Switzerland saw a slight drop off.
France’s active Internet audience (i.e. the number of users who have logged on during the previous 30 days) was 24.5 million in April, and 26.6 million in May, reflecting an increase of 8.23%. Italy’s Internet audience also saw strong growth of 7.64%, seeing it grow from 18.2 million to 19.6 million.
Australia’s active Internet audience increased from 11.1 million in April to 11.7 million in May, reflecting an increase of 5.79%.
Brazil (3.22%), Germany (2.38%), Japan (2.36%), Spain (1.79%), the U.S. (1.53%), and the U.K. (0.14%) also saw growth in their Internet audiences from April to May.
Switzerland, however, saw a decline of 1.50%, as the country’s Internet audience declined from 3.84 million in April to 3.79 million in May.
